The short version
The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser. The figures you enter — your portfolio, income, expenses and ages — are never transmitted to us, because there is no server to transmit them to. We have no accounts, no database, and no way to see your finances.
That matters more here than on most sites. The inputs to a retirement calculator are sensitive personal financial data, and the safest way to handle them is not to receive them at all.
Data you enter into the calculators
Every calculation happens locally in JavaScript. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
So you do not have to re-enter figures each visit, your inputs are stored in your
browser's localStorage under keys beginning
firenumbers. This is a standard browser feature. The data stays on
your device, is readable only by this site in that browser, and is not synced to us
or anyone else.
You can remove it at any time by:
- using the Reset button on any calculator, or
- clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings.
If you use a shared computer, use the Reset button or a private window — anyone with access to that browser profile could otherwise see your saved figures.
Server logs
This site is served as static files. The hosting provider records standard web server request logs, which may include your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser's user-agent string and the referring page. These are used for security and to keep the site running, retained for a limited period, and are not used to build a profile of you. They never contain calculator inputs, because those are never sent.
Analytics
We do not currently run any third-party analytics, tracking pixels or session recording. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect and the provider will be named here.
Advertising
This site does not currently display advertising. The empty bordered boxes you may see are reserved layout space, held open so that adding advertising later cannot make the page move while you are reading.
When advertising is enabled, this section will apply and be updated to reflect it:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and others on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be shown a consent notice before any non-essential cookies are set.
- Advertisers never receive your calculator inputs. Those remain on your device.
Affiliate links
Some pages contain affiliate links, always inside a clearly labelled block marked as a recommendation and a paid link. If you follow one and open an account, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. The partner may set its own cookies once you arrive on their site, governed by their privacy policy rather than this one. Affiliate relationships never affect the numbers a calculator produces.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or store personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete — your figures are already entirely under your control on your own device. Questions can go to the contact page.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting how data is handled will be made before, not after, the change takes effect.
